“I was super nervous to try tallow on my face because I have really reactive skin. I started with just my elbows, chest or scars. I really liked it so I started to slowly try it on my face. I now smother my face every night, it is so soothing and my skin hasn't ever looked as nice. I haven't experienced any breakouts!" -A.S

Small Batch, Hand Crafted

Things to expect with small batch skincare.... each batch may be a little different (scent, texture & colour) but it does not change the quality of the tallow. We hand craft our tallow in small batches, to create the Whipped Tallow Balm you see. This includes rendering and sourcing the suet ourselves from not only our farm but other local farms. We carefully inspect each batch to ensure its quality for your use. Tallow is solid at room temperature and that’s why we need to combine it with carrier oils to create a fluffy soft texture. We do not use any stabilizers or preservatives so your tallow will be affected by temperature changes.

How to use

Tallow is not a new product, it's an ancient one. With the beauty industry turning a focus on wellness and clean products, tallow is making its comeback. Start with a little of this rich and hydrating product, you might think with your first application that it feels oily and fear it will clog your pores, it won't! Tallow has a similar structure to the sebum, which is how your skin naturally hydrates itself. It is rich in vitamins, minerals and fatty acids which your skin will love. Tallow also contains conjugated linoleic acid, which is a natural anti-inflammatory meaning it is great for minor irritations like bug bites or rashes.

How to Store

Tallow is a shelf stable product however as we do not use any preservative or stabilizers in our products, we recommend using your whipped tallow product within six months of opening. Keep your tallow in a dry area and avoid getting water into your jar. Store at room temperature. Tallow itself is hard at room temperature, that is why we whip it with other nourishing oils to create the balm that we all love. If it gets too warm it may melt, not to worry you could whip it back to its balmy self in your own kitchen using a basic hand mixer. If it gets cold, simply place near a heat source for a few minutes to bring it back to a soft whipped texture.

  • Why does my whipped tallow seem to condense over time?

Tallow itself is hard at room temperature, we add nourishing oils and whip air into it to create the balm what we all enjoy. Because we do not add preservatives or stabilizers to our products the consistency of your tallow can change slightly over time. This can occur from temperature changes from where it is being stored or even simply regular use where the pressure of your hand dipping into jar condenses to balms. Not to worry, your product is good to use!

  • Will rubbing beef fat on my face make me break out?

Seems counter intuitive but no, it will not clog your pores. Tallow is a healing product that is full of vitamins, minerals, omega-3 fatty acids and essential acids which all together work to help sooth and hydrate skin. It is also bioidentical to the sebum our skin naturally produces. It will not clog pores or cause irritation, as it is very low on the cosmogenic scale, ranking lower than coconut oil. Tallow is high in conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which can help soothe and decrease redness in irritated or acne-prone skin

  • Where can apply my tallow balm on my body?

Because of its multiple healing properties, tallow can be applied from head to toe. It will not clog your pores, so don't be shy using it on your face. It can also be used for healing rashes and dry skin as well as soothing bug bites and minor abrasions.
